Hello there

The EPSON Perfection 4490 scanner stopped working with the Mac OS Sierra update. I thought subsequent Sierra might repair the issue. Last Month As suggested on the Apple site I removed the Scanner software and reinstalled an Epson scan the site directed me to. A few Install, uninstall, reinstalls later I gave up. I can’t find the EPSON Perfection 4490 trouble shoot page any more.

I contacted Epson they don't support this scanner any more. They said Apple Image Capture is the solution. I already had Image, Version 6.8 (1106) installed it stopped working with a more recent Sierra update.

Image Capture can recognise the EPSON Perfection 4490 scanner. Clicking Overview Scan appears to begin a long scan process. Then an 'Overview scan timed out.' message pops up. Scan is grey. On the scanner there is a flashing red light. (Usually a green light)

Is this EPSON Perfection 4490 scanner now obsolete?
