Seriously, I remember my mom and I having to get to Toys R Us at 7am to get this little dude. As an only child, I loved my Furby like.
Cleaning Instructions:
To clean my fur, gently brush it with a cloth or soft brush to loosen any dirt. Then use a slightly damp cloth to remove stains.
-DO NOT PUT ME IN THE WASHING MACHINE.
-DO NOT SUBMERGE ME IN WATER.
-DO NOT LET ME GET WET EXCEPT WITH A DAMP CLOTH ON MY FUR.
-TO PREVENT STAINING MY FUR, WIPE DIRT OFF IMMEDIATELY.
-IF I GET WET, REMOVE MY BATTERIES AND DRY MY FUR.
-ONCE I AM COMPLETELY DRY, REPLACE THE BATTERIES DO NOT USE DETERGENT OR STAIN REMOVERS ON ME.
Furby was a popular electronic robotic toy resembling a hamster/owl-like creature which went through a period of being a 'must-have' toy following its launch in the holiday season of 1998, with continual sales until 2000. Furbies sold 1.8 million units in 1998, 14 million units in 1999, and altogether in its three years of original production, Furbies sold over 40 million units.
Trouble Shooting:
Furby is designed to provide hours of fun play. If you are having trouble with Furby, before calling Tiger Electronics Customer Service, try checking these areas:
Problem:
a. Furby will not respond to any sensors.
Solution:
a. Furby may be asleep, if he is asleep the only way to wake him is pick him up and give him a hug.
b. Furby may need new batteries. Follow the instructions at the beginning to replace Furbys batteries.
c. Furby may be sick and must be fed and nursed back to health. Refer to the instructions for feeding furby.
d. As a LAST RESORT, re-set Furby (see instructions above).
Problem:
a. Furby will not play games.
Solution:
a. You have to enter the pattern to start each game exactly right. Make sure you follow the pattern for the game.
b. Furby can only do one thing at a time, there fore you have to be careful to wait for furby to stop moving or talking completely before entering the next item in the game pattern.
c. It is best to wait 3 to 5 seconds before doing each item in the game start pattern to make sure furby knows you want to play the game.
d. Furby may not be paying attention. To get Furby to pay attention, pick Furby up and gently rock him side to side. Then try to play again.
e. Furby can only play one game at a time. you have to end one game before beginning another. To end a game, pick Furby up and turn Furby upside down until Furby says Me Done.
90-DAY LIMITED WARRANTY
Tiger Electronics Ltd. (Tiger) warrants to the original purchaser of this product that the product will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for 90 days from the date of original purchase. This warranty does not cover damages resulting from accident, negligence, improper service or use or other causes not arising out of defects in materials or workmanship.
During this 90-day warranty period, the product will either be repaired or replaced (at Tiger's option) without charge to the purchaser, when returned with proof of the date of purchase to either the dealer of to Tiger.
Product returned to Tiger without proof of the date of purchase or after the 90-day warranty period has expired, but prior to one year from the original date of purchase, will be repaired or replaced (at Tiger's option) for a service fee of U.S.$ 18.00. Payments must be made by check or money order payable to Tiger Electronics Ltd.
The foregoing states the purchaser's sole and exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty with respect to the product.
All product returned must be shipped prepaid and insured for loss or damage to:

The product should be carefully packed in the original box or other packing materials sufficient to avoid damage during shipment. Include a complete written description of the defect, a check if product is beyond the 90-day warranty period, and your printed name, address and telephone number.

Furby Instructions
Before you play with me, please follow these simple steps.
- Turn me upside down and open my battery door.
- Insert four (4) AA batteries into my battery compartment. Please close the battery compartment.
- While holding me upside down, put your finger in my mouth and hold down my tongue switch.
- While holding down my tongue switch, please press my reset button.
- I will now wake up and tell you my name. I am now ready to play.

[Note: the above 'Quick start Furby instructions' was not located in the manual, but on a separate peice of paper that came with Furby. Actualy two copies where included, a smaller and larger copy. The smaller copy was actualy located in the battery compartment of Furby. Some releases of Furby don't include these notes, while others do. -Kat]Your Furby can sense changes in light. Furby can tell when it gets dark and when it gets light.
If you Walk or Run with Furby through areas where it is light and dark such as going inside from outside. Furby may think you want to play hide and seek.
If this happens, Furby will become quiet and 'hide'.
If you want to play with Furby when Furby does this, simply turn him upside down to end the game.
Furby will say 'Me done'.
Then Furby will be ready to play again.
